Wanderin' 'round

It's fun and creepy wandering around at night taking pictures. The best part about taking pictures at night is worrying that you will get arrested.

  1. I really like the second picture from the top. The green lighting and the perspective of it makes me feel as if I'm not suppose to be looking at it.

  2. There is a real sense of isolation that I get from looking at these images. I also like the textures that the strong directional light creates.

  3. The last 2 are my favorite. The contrast in colors and composition of each are intriguing to me. Especially the porch shot, it makes me want to keep looking at it and create a story for it.

  4. These photos are my favorite from your blog thus far. You did a wonderful job capturing good lighting for night shots. I really like your porch shot. I feel like you can get a lot of emotion out of that picture. It makes me wonder what the story is behind the porch swing and blanket. Great job!

  5. I think this group of photos is your best. The lighting and composition of the last two are very effective with creating a creepy feeling. I think you should definitely go in this direction- try to shoot buildings in the future in the same way.

I honestly would love to see more work with your mr. box character. I saw that you already did a project and I'm just wondering how many photographs you actually took. Expanding on this would be so interesting- maybe you could even create more figures? Lots of great photos come from creating the subjects within yourself- sort of like installations. I realize that may be a little more work than you have time for, but the results would be worth it.

  6. I think the last two photos in this set could be shown as a pair. The continued theme of color and dirty snow is nice. I enjoy all the angles as well. Since you're doing digital I suggest playing with the colors even more. Take it further than what it is currently, almost garish even.

  7. I'm in love with these shots! When you first pulled them up my eye was instantly attracted to them. Its intriging to me to hear about your interest in night photography. Veryyyyy coooool. The last picture in this group looks like the house is in an ocean of water. Theres some cool creepy places around here that I think you'd find interesting to capture in the night. Have you ever taken pictures in the twlight hours? Fooling around with your camera on manual at that time of day creates badass colors.
Incorporating some human figures can really help tie an interesting twist to some night photography.

  8. The shot of the garage doors would look sweet with a pop art twist. Because it is basically composed of just a couple color tones it would be fun to play around with pairing the original up with a negative of it or a different color with a black border. SWWWWWEEETTTT STUFF doode!

  10. I think the last picture from this post is your strongest. Despite being taken at night, the images is really clear and the green adds a really cool element and emotion to it. The signs help too, it makes me wonder where it is and what is going on there.
